Why I Think Sage Intacct Is A Critical Part of CDH’s Future Success

By:  Koh Fujimoto

It has been over two years since we decided to pick up Intacct (now Sage Intacct) as our new line of business.  It is true that our progress has not been spectacular.  We have not had much success in selling Sage Intacct.  It is also true that we have not yet implemented Sage Intacct as our internal software.  However, I continue to believe that Intacct is a critical part of CDH’s future success. I am still firmly convinced that Sage Intacct is our ticket to transforming CDH into a national firm.  In this article, I want to explain why I think that Intacct is important for CDH.

  • Sage Intacct has been consistently rated as the #1 customer satisfaction software in the industry (see Sage Intacct Reviews and Intacct Customer Rating Diagram).  It was rated by G2 Crowd and, recently, Trust Radius also rated it very highly as a cloud based accounting software.
  • Many of our existing clients are using QuickBooks and Sage.  Both are good software for small businesses.  But, many of our clients are getting larger and transitioning into a new plateau of mid-sized business and they need a more advanced software—that is Sage Intacct.

If a business with QuickBooks is growing, they will see the following:

  1. Backup is taking too long
  2. Manual entries into QuickBooks or Sage create too many errors and create unnecessary workload
  3. Too many processes
  4. Transparency of the accounting is reduced
  5. Expense software or payroll software are not linked to the main software and takes too long to complete monthly close
  6. Need to use Excel to produce many reports

Sage Inacct is exactly targeting these growing companies and is equipped to eliminate these issues.
  • Cloud based software is growing at a whopping annual compound rate of 18.8% in market size.  Many companies are shifting towards cloud accounting software and Sage Intacct is a leading brand.
  • You do not have to have a local office to promote Sage Intacct.  Remember that it is a cloud software.  Accounting firms do not need a physical location nearby to serve Sage intacct client.
  • Once you sell Sage Intacct, our foot is in the door of our new client.  We can keep introducing CDH’s other great services.
  • Once we accumulate enough Sage Intacct clients in a local area, then, we can see if we want to invest and build a new office.  I view this as a road map to a national firm in a very logical way. We do not have to risk a sizable investment or gamble. Instead, our approach to a national firm status is very prudent.

We can be successful this way on a nation-wide basis. However, we should be successful on our home ground first (i.e., within the greater Chicagoland area including Milwaukee).  We have a pretty good reputation as an accounting firm with international expertise.  If we capitalize this to promote Sage Intacct in our market, we can take a big step towards a national firm.

I wanted to take some time share some new things happening in the IT world around CDH. As most of you know we already implemented a new Firewall a little over a week ago to help circumvent issue with VPN usage. This upgrade is great not only for VPN usage but for other networking tasks done on an everyday basis since the new hardware can handle requests much easier now compared to our older unit. Another exciting change is we have implemented a new email archive and spam filter solution called Arc Titan and Spam Titan by TitanHQ. These services are critical in a business for a bunch of different reasons.
Archiving:
  1. Compliance with Statutory Regulations
  2. Cost Management
  3. Improved End-User and IT Productivity
  4. Disaster Recovery
Spam Filter:
  1. Block Threats
  2. Filters for Legitimate Emails
  3. Protecting our Business Reputation
  4. Helping Employee Workflow Throughout the Day

I wanted to share these points as well so that you have a brief idea of why these are needed in the workplace. You are always more than welcome to bring these up to your clients as well because we can provide them this service. If you have any questions on this please talk to us and we will be happy to help!

Opportunity season is winding down for Executive Focus. I just have one more client changing its budgets one more time. The end of opportunity season brings networking season. Networking is a vital part of any business, so we are always looking for new events to attend. Tom Callam told us that Barry highly recommends TipClub. This organization is dedicated to fostering business to business relationships. I went to the Milwaukee chapter meeting and was not disappointed. I have already added three new COI’s to my network. In the picture above, I am in the last row patiently waiting to tell the CDH story.

Chicago auditors and other pretty faces from the firm represented CDH at multiple university career fairs during the past two months. They voluntarily took their time out from the busy schedules to participate in the talent acquisition process by sharing CDH values and working experience with the potential candidates. Let’s check out what kind of exciting comments that Dana, Jocelyn, and Ave want to share with you all!

Dana:  Myself being a UIC alumni, it was great to be back on campus and having the opportunity to talk to UIC students! Mary, Lee and I were able to meet some promising candidates. I hope we are able to go to more UIC events in the future, so we can further strengthen CDH’s presence at UIC.

Jocelyn:  It’s my first ever career fair on behalf of the firm and it was super fun! I’m so glad that I was able to meet with new people and to share with them all my interesting experience with the firm. It was such a great opportunity to promote our firm and to attract more talents. It’s also a great chance for me to enhance my networking skills and to make myself more comfortable in front of people. I had such a great time and I can’t wait to be a part of the next career fair and to meet more people!

Ave:  I was very excited when visiting the career fair at Loyola and get to meet the students at the campus! I had the chance to talk to the students and tell them about my experience in CDH so far! It was my first time being on the other side of the table and it was really interesting to realize that I was also in their shoes not too long ago! Some of them didn’t know what to do for their career and I was really glad to share my experience and hopefully it could give them a little insight on what they want to do in the future!

I visited this little dive barbeque joint on a recommendation and let me tell you it did not disappoint. Before I get into the details, you should know that this place is just flat out strange. We went on a Sunday and the locals crowded around the bar to watch The Walking Dead. Some were dressed up for the occasion (think zombies) while the bartender was also decked out like a zombie victim. So the place has personality. The food, however, is excellent. Ronnie, the owner, is a cool guy and knows his barbeque. We had smoked wings, ribs and rib tips, all of which were top notch. Watch out for the sauces as I’m still feeling the heat from the 4X hot sauce. Beer selection is excellent and prices are very fair. ~ Tom Callam
